Andra teaches classical and contemporary voice. She has over 20 years of performance experience in musical theater, opera, and pop music. She also has 10 years of teaching experience with students of various skill levels and interests. Andra believes she is responsible for freeing the student of technical barriers to allow them to perform at their highest level of self expression.
Andra Erbar is an emerging young soprano, born and raised in Oklahoma City, and has a very diverse performance background. She has a passion for Opera, Musical Theater, and for Acting. She also trained from a young age in competitive ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance. She also performs other genres of music.
She completed her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Oklahoma under the tutelage of Bradley Williams. She also was fortunate to study with Marilyn Horne, the great American mezzo-soprano. Recently, she returned to Wichita Grand Opera’s stage where she previously was a Young Artist and performed outreach performances as Wanda in Grand Duchess of Gerolstein, along with covering roles in Don Carlo and Turandot (Liù). Andra performed with Geneva Light Opera as Rosalinde. She appeared this summer as the fairy Celia in Cimarron Opera Company’s production of Iolanthe. She spent two years as a Resident Artist at Central Florida Lyric Opera where she has performed Liù (Turandot), First Lady (The Magic Flute), and Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor). She also recently performed the role of Mimi in La boheme with Ritorna all’Opera in Alassio, Italy. She has also performed in regional musical theater and opera companies including Lyric Theater of Oklahoma, Tulsa Theater Project, and Opera International of Washington D.C.. Some favorite roles include Lucia, Maria (Sound of Music), Marianne (Music Man). Andra has enjoyed the international travel and linguistic opportunities afforded her as an opera singer. She has studied in Graz, Austria and Florence, Italy, as well as in locations throughout Spain. Andra agrees with the American painter, Georgia O’Keeffe, that music is the most perfect form of expression.
